We offer a complete or partial fee waiver on a case-by-case basis for individual authors or author groups affiliated with a university or institute in Low-income or Lower-middle-income economies as defined by the World Bank, see list below. If the author group includes researchers from universities or institutes in high-income economies, the publication fee will likely not be waived.
Please mail your request for a waiver of the publication fee to waivers@openacademia.net before submitting your manuscript. Requests for waivers for manuscripts that are already under peer review or have been typeset will not be granted.
The corresponding author must send the following information in the letter of request, together with any supporting documents:
– Manuscript title
– Article category
– Names and titles of all authors
– Institutional affiliations of all authors
– Type of waiver requested: Partial (indicate the amount you can pay in EUR) or Full
– Reason for waiver application
Applications that do not contain this information will not be evaluated.
Please note that if a project has been funded but no money has been reserved for publication, i.e. funds have been exhausted prior to the publication process, requests will be declined.
Editors and reviewers have no access to author payment information. Inability to pay will not influence their editorial decision.

As one of the first Open Access journals in its field, Food & Nutrition Research (FNR) offers an important forum for researchers to exchange the latest results from research on human nutrition broadly and food-related nutrition in particular.
